At the beginning of November, I spent a couple of days in Natuashish, Labrador.  I was on a trip paid for by donations to The ArtsCan Circle.  No small feat for three flights from Toronto to Halifax to Goose Bay to Natuashish.  Also on the trip were Mike Stevens and Magoo from Ontario and Etienne Riche, the bass player for the great Innu band Meshikamau.

Being a YouTube guy and a music guy, I looked up "natuashish music" on YouTube.  Down a few on the first page was a video entitled jonah gregoire singing live.  I watched that one and a few more until I came across innu superman.  The latter stars the former's brother Peter Gregoire.  Check them out:

Jonah Gregoire Singing Live

Innu Superman (Peter Gregoire)

The first night we were in Natuashish, there was a jam session in the multi-purpose room at the school.  Guess who showed up.  Jonah and Peter.  We had a great jam, y'know, one of the really good ones.  A great precursor to the jam we ended up having the next night when, after Jonah had me, Mike and Magoo in for an impromtu recording session, Magoo and I were invited to an all out electric jam at Simeon's place, complete with synth drum machine, keyboard, bass (Toby's), guitars, and microphones.   We played for hours.  We sang a bunch of stuff, including a bunch of songs they had written, a Kashtin jam, and the song I wrote for my grandmother just before she passed away, Brave (it's track 3).  The harmonies soared.

I can't wait to play music with them again.
